  • By Jeremy Ellis Monday morning here at the 2013 NARCh Finals and if you are looking for a jolt of energy after no one brought you Starbucks, then look no further than to the action taking place today at the Hershey Centre.  D1 and platinum rolled into town and they are taking the rinks by storm.  Not only is the action intense but is also extremely FAST! Scattered among the rosters are NHL prospects and major junior players.  I always get a kick out of some of the guys coming into the NHL and

  • By Jeremy Ellis It was moving today at the Hershey Centre for the 2013 NARCh Finals.  The Men's Gold, Silver, and Bronze divisions all wrapped up as we get prepared for the onslaught of platinum and Division 1 teams.  It is almost as if the second half of the Finals is an event onto itself.  I know I speak for all of the staff here when I say that we are excited to witness and be a part of the greatest talent pool in the sport. The day began at 10am on Sunday, plenty of time for the men's tea

  • By Jeremy Ellis After an adventurous Friday of travel from Chicago, I am finally here for my 7th go-round, the 20th annual NARCh Finals.  The weather in the Toronto area got downright nasty yesterday with thunderstorms, high winds and even tornado sightings.  All of those led to a long delay for me taking off from Chicago, which allowed the Chicago weather to turn for the worse delaying my departure even more.  After exploring O'Hare airport for 8 hours I finally took off and ended up here in

  • By Josh HowaldA long trip to NARChBruce County certainly didn’t travel the most miles to be at NARCh, but nonetheless, this team has come a long way.The last time the North American Roller Hockey Championships made a stop in Mississauga, Bruce County did put a team on the floor. That team, however, left demoralized and was nearly the end of roller hockey in southwestern Ontario. Bruce County failed to touch the puck in its first contest, ended by the mercy rule after about four minutes. They s

  • by Alex Morrison We have had 5 great days so far at the Finals, and hope that day 6 extends the streak.  We have the Pee Wee, Midget, and Junior Gold Skills Competitions, and the Squirt Gold final comes toward the end of a "short" day.  It's funny that a 10 hour day is considered short to us! The way we have approached this video production is new to me, and I have had a good time stepping in and interviewing kids and helping make this a truly special experience for them.  The addition of Gai

  • First and foremost, our condolences the Zarem Family.  Dave Zarem has been instrumental in keeping roller hockey alive and healthy in Detroit and is the heart of the Detroit Mission Stars.  Unfortunately he got the news yesterday while here that his brother had passed.   It's never easy even discussing death and everyone handles it a bit differently.  I'm uncomfortable writing about it.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you Dave.  The roller hockey world is a tight family and his pain is

  • by Alex Morrison The longest meter is more like it up here.  Day 2 at the NARCh Finals was the longest of the 17 days we will spend in Mississauga this summer.  65 games, and 5 skills competitions took place  over the course of 17 hours, and we didn't have a dull minute. The skills competitions were the highlight of the day.  We started things off with the Atom Division, which was the largest skills turnout by far.  We had over 30 shooters!  This was one of the more entertaining skills com
