18u - Midget Champions were crowned today

MISSISSAUGA - The second last day of the East Coast NARCh Finals brought some more playoff action from the Peewee division, but as well as championship battles from the Midget division. Not to mention divisions such as Men's Gold/Silver, 30+ are still just getting started.

Here are the summaries of the Midget Platinum/Gold Championship games:

Midget Gold - 4PAC Batallions 98's vs. ISCA Grizzlies

The top two seeds would square off in the Midget Gold final. The 4PAC Battalion 98's steamrolled through the round robin, though they did finish the preliminaries with two victories and two draws, but they did end up with a +11 goal differential.

Although the Battalion's played great through the first part of the tournament, it all means nothing without the gold medal around their necks, and it was evident that they were aware of that.

The Battalion would continue their strong performance in the final game, putting up six goals chasing Grizzlies goaltender John Coon out of the crease. Top Goaltender of the tournament Marco Castner's play was solid when needed and was crucial to the Battalion's success down the stretch. The final score would be 6-4 for the Battalion.

Midget Platinum - Tour RoadRunners vs. Mission Bauer BorderCats

It was no surprise that the RoadRunners and the BorderCats would be the two teams dueling it out for the Midget Platinum title. Both teams were very evenly matched from the Goaltending on out.

While both teams with loaded with tons of firepower, both teams were also very cautious defensively and did not want to make the first mistake. With that being said, after a very possessive first period it would be Max Halvorsen who would break the tie, to put his RoadRunners club ahead 1-0.

Following that goal, it would be the goaltending performance of Rob Kowalcyk that would steal the show for the RoadRunners. The BorderCats could not convert on their opportunities, and following a missed backdoor, the RoadRunners would seal the deal with a goal from Colin Tinschert.

After winning in San Jose last month and now here in Mississauga, it would be the second consecutive Midget Platinum title for Head Coach Anthony Violante and the RoadRunners.

Kowalcyk would take home Top Goalie, while Kevin Maddox from the BorderCats would be the division's Top Scorer.
