NARCh Women’s Division Recap

TAYLOR – Although the Pro division has taken the spotlight thus far at the 2019 East Coast NARCh Finals in Taylor, however, there has been plenty of other divisions that have garnered some competitive and entertaining hockey, to say the least.

Aside from Pro, here’s are the other divisions that have been going on around the rink, highlighted by the Women’s Platinum and Gold division that’s coming to a close:

The first championships of the tournament were played by the Women’s Platinum and Gold divisions, as the Pama Labeda Golden Knights squared off against the Tour RoadRunners for the Platinum title, while the Detroit Labeda Stars squared off against Team Carless in an all-Michigan battle.

The defending champion Golden Knights were dominant as usual, going 4-0 during round robin play, torching their opponents with 19 goals and combined their high-powered offense with superb defensive play, allowing just 1 goal in those 4 games. Due to their strong performances, they earned a bye straight to the Pro final, awaiting the winner of the OMG USA/RoadRunners semi-final game.

The RoadRunners have been relying on goaltender Jetta Rackleff the entire tournament, allowing just 4 goals the entire tournament, and it was no different in the semis and the finals. The RoadRunners defeated OMG USA 1-0, setting up a date with the Golden Knights.

It was the same story as once the RoadRunners pounced on the 1-0 lead, Rackleff was stellar yet again, negating all of Pama’s quality scoring chances, pulling off the upset and avenging their loss from the year before, winning the Platinum championship by a score of 1-0.

In the Gold division, it was a face-off between Team Carless and the Pama Labeda Stars for the championship. It was also an all-defensive battle between the two teams, much like the Platinum final, this time with Team Careless winning by a score of 2-0.
