MISSISSAUGA - It is the third day here at the East Coast NARCh Finals here at the Hershey Centre, meaning a list of divisions will be deciding who will take home the Gold Medal. Divisions such as Girls, Mite Platinum/Gold, and even Pro were all being decided by the end of the night.
Here are recaps of the few Championships games today:
Girls - Oroks HGA 45 France vs. RoadRunners
The first championship from today brought us a match-up between the Oroks HGA45 out of France against the always good in the girls division the Tour RoadRunners. It was clear from the gecko that the team that came all the way from France was the favorite, and proved once again in the final game.
After HGA45 took the lead, they would quickly form into a box, waiting for the RoadRunners to make a mistake. The decision would pay off for the French as they would take home the gold by a score of 5-1.
Mite Gold - Halton Alkali Coyotes vs. Mission Bauer Bordercats
The Mite Platinum/Gold division was also a group that was pretty much set from the beginning of the tournament. The Rattlers and the Honeybaked team out of Detroit steamrolled through the competition, meaning the Bordercats and Coyotes would square off in the Gold Championship.
After a 9-7 loss in the round robin to the 'Yotes, the Bordercats were looking to seek revenge. However the Coyotes, led by goaltender Noah Young the Coyotes would not let that happened. Brandon MacDonald would also contribute to the Coyotes, as they would come out with the victory by a score of 6-4.
Mite Platinum - Mississauga Mission Rattlers vs. Honeybaked '06
In a clash between two of the best Mite teams in North America, the Mississauga Mission Rattlers would face the Honeybaked 06's. The two played in the prelims, with the Rattlers coming back from a 4-2 deficit and winning 5-4 in the last minute, in what was a back and forth game.
'07 born Nolan Keeler would get the game's opening goal for the Rattlers, however would find themselves down one early into the second. Fortunately for the Rattlers, this was nothing new to them.
"We just needed to stay calm, and just stick to the gameplan." said Gabriel Frasca, who scored the game-winning goal in the first match-up with Honeybaked.
Frasca's words would come to fruition as Zach Saleh would score a beautiful goal to tie the game up, and followed by a great shot from Max Dinis to score in what would be the game-winning goal, clinching the Platinum Championship. Strong defense from Justin Huynh and Nick Frasca, but as well as great passing from Lucas Miletic and William were also crucial in the Rattlers victory.
Blake Sloan was a rock for the Rattlers taking home the tournament's Top Goalie, while Gabe Frasca took home Top Scorer.
Honeybaked's goaltender was an absolute force, and kudos were given to him from the Rattlers after the game to respect his great performance.
