Todays NARCh Update

by Daryn Goodwin

MISSISSAUGA - It has been nearly a week since the East Coast NARCh Finals began, yet there are still a ton of divisions left to be determined. Today would be the day where the Bantam's would find out their match-ups for their championship games, while the Silver and Club division would find out who would take home the Gold Medal.

Capitals Colombia and the ISCA Grizzlies would be the championship match-up brought to us for the Silver division, and it would not disappoint. Following their championship win in the Midget Silver division, Capitals Colombia would pick up right where they left off, rather cruising into the championship game against the Grizzlies.

Their smooth sailing would take a giant hit facing this hungry Grizzlies team. Following their character win in the semis against the Kamagraf Cobras Selects, the Grizzlies would build off that confidence and defeat the Colombian's 2-0, claiming the Bantam Silver title.

In the bronze medal game, Fallout would score the go-ahead goal against the Cobras with 19 seconds left to finish 3rd in the division.

The Club division would have the the Oroks HGA45 Red from France against the San Jose Inline Sharks out of California. It would be a low-scoring game, but the Inline Sharks would be the ones to score the only goal of the hockey game, beating Oroks 1-0. HotShots Inferno beat the RoadRunners 01 by a score of 7-2 to claim the bronze medal in that division.

In the Gold division, the #1 seed Mississauga Mission Rattlers would play in a tight game against the RoadRunners 02 team, but would just have enough pulling out the victory winning 2-1. Following their tough loss in the Silver championship, Capitals Colombia would come out flying in their semi-final match-up in the Gold division, upsetting the #2 seed Tour Lizard Kings by a score of 4-1, setting up a Rattlers-Capitals finals game in the Gold division.

Not a surprise, the Platinum division would showcase the best games of the day, especially in both Quarter-Finals games. Both games would be very parallel to one another, as both games did need extra time to decide a winner.

In the first game, the Bauer BorderCats 01 would score with 48 seconds left to tie it up, however in overtime Inferno would end it, and head off to the semi-finals against the Halton Alkali Coyotes.

The second game featured an all-Canadian match-up between the Mission Rattlers and the Red Deer Snipers. Rattlers underager Rory Kerins would tie it up with less than a minute to go, but the Snipers would bounce back in overtime, defeating the Rattlers 3-2 to play the RageCats in the semis.

Unfortunately for both Quarter-Final winners, their luck would run out as both teams would lose in the semis. Inferno would have an early 2-0 lead over the Coyotes, but Halton would come back and win that one 5-2, and on the other hand the Snipers would play an over-powered RageCats team, and would fall to them by a score of the 5-0.
