The longest meter is more like it up here. Day 2 at the NARCh Finals was the longest of the 17 days we will spend in Mississauga this summer. 65 games, and 5 skills competitions took place over the course of 17 hours, and we didn’t have a dull minute.
The skills competitions were the highlight of the day. We started things off with the Atom Division, which was the largest skills turnout by far. We had over 30 shooters! This was one of the more entertaining skills competitions I have seen in years. The atmosphere in the arena, the excitement of the kids and most of all, the video production was just outstanding. I know we keep talking about how cool this video stuff is, but we still might be selling it short. You have to be here to experience what it does to the energy in the whole building. The kids are eating it up too, watching the video screen as much as they are watching the live action.
The Midget, Pee Wee, and Mite Silver skills competitions also took place today, as did the Cubs. What an awesome bunch of little hockey players we had in that one. This link will take you to it: NARCh Cub Skills
Right now, our last game of the day is taking place on the arena, then we will seed the Midget Silver division. Pee Wee has already seeded, as has the Atoms and Mites. Tomorrow will be a very busy day in a different way, the first NARCh champions of 2013 will be crowned. 6 finals are taking place tomorrow, and 3 skills competitions as well. Time to rest up for another long but thrilling day.
