Good Afternoon from Sherwood Park, Alberta

By Mike Vickerman

Greetings from Sherwood Park, Alberta Canada. After seven hours of travel, clouds, rain and lost luggage, I’m still excited to be here this weekend. This weekends tournament is taking place at the beautiful Millennium Place- and what a facility!

The Sherwood volunteer group has gone above and beyond any regional I have ever seen.

Upon team check in, every team gets a care package and the feeling that they are at a major event. There is also a raffle where you can win an Edmonton Oilers team signed stick, several graphite sticks, Santa Cruz skate board, framed and signed picture of Edmonton Oiler goalie Devon Dubnyk, an Xbox, ipad, and a 51 inch Samsung HDTV. In total, there is over $3,000 in raffle winnings.

I just hope I can find a way to get the TV back home. Lol…..

All in all, the hockey community here has more than opened up their arms to NARCh and is very excited to head to Finals.

Keep an eye out for a bunch of photos that will be up on the NARCh players’ Facebook page this afternoon, and more highlights of today’s action.
