Pro division final has the Dumars fieldhouse packed!
Tyler Walser is assessed a penalty shot with only twenty one seconds left in the game and his team trailing 7 - 6
| The home rink Tour Bordercats and the Revision Buffalo Wings pack the house!
Five teams would enter the pro division at this event. The Detroit Mission Stars, Mission Meltdown, The Tour Bordercats, Tour Excitement and the Revision Buffalo Wings. While Mission dropped their initial opener to the Tour Bordercats, they ended up with first seed. Revision Buffalo Wings would seed second while the Excitement and the Bordercats finished fourth respectively.
The surprise of the event was that the Detroit Mission Stars failed to win a round robin game. As we began the semi – finals, the Bordercats laid the smack down on the on the Meltdown in a 9 – 1 game. Surprisingly the Meltdown led by Pat Lee and PJ Kavaya just couldn’t get their pistons firing. The Bordercats have a very fast and solid team. They move the puck quickly and are without a doubt the fastest team in the pro division here. This followed with Buffalo knocking out the Excitement 5 - 0.
Led by Tyler Walser, who scored the hat trick for the Wings, the pro game final was more than we could ask for. As the game started Buffalo jumped out to a 2 – 0 lead on goals from Scarsella and Kozlowski. The Bordercats would then answer back with three straight goals as Shaun Murphy would find the back of the net and then Kyle Siciliano would add a pair. It was Buffalo’s turn to net three in a row as Cory Conacher, Tyler Walser and Dan Wendt would all score. Kyle Siciliano would then add his third and fourth goals of the game, while Chad Spezia scored his first to give the Bordercats a 6 – 5 lead.
Cory Conacher would then score a clutch goal to tie the game at six apiece with two minutes and fifty one seconds to play. However, Chad Spezia would break down the wing and unleash a snap shot that hit the outside post and caromed in the net with 1: 13 to play as the crowd went bezerk in the building. After calling a time out, The Wings recomposed themselves and peppered the Bordercat net. A Bordercat defenseman then used his glove to cover the puck in the crease and Tyler Walser, was awarded the penalty shot with only twenty one seconds left in the game. Walser would deke to his backhand and Ryan Glover, Bordercat goalie would rob him of the attempted goal.
As the faceoff was dropped, the Bordercats attempted to clear the puck which skipped to Walser in the High slot who unleashed a wicked wrist shot that hit the cross bar with only eight seconds left. As the faceoff went to center, the Bordercats cleared the draw and began throwing their gloves and sticks in the air in a wild celebration.
High scorer was Tyler Walser and top goalie was Ryan Glover.
