Rocky Mountain Update
|
A few weeks back when we circled this event we were hoping to catch an Avs Playoff Game, but they were too banged up and didn’t stand a chance against Detroit. We thought we might catch a Nugget game instead, but the Enver Nuggets didn’t have a chance either. You’ll notice there’s no D, just like their team. So instead we’re fully focused on the hockey here at our regional qualifier at Rocky Mountain Roller Hockey Facility.
Andy is a very hands-on owner. He truly cares about the sport. Had a nice chat with him this morning. This is our first time at RMR and we’re impressed with it all the way around.
43 teams are here from around the state. So far in early action, there seems to be a wide variety of talent. From true platinum teams, to true club teams.
There are a lot of misconceptions here about seeding for the NARCh Finals. People think that if you do THIS then you’re automatically seeded THAT, and so on. Please, do not get wrapped up in it all. Just play the games and trust us that we’ll put you in the right place for the NARCh Finals.
It seems more teams will be coming from CO this year since it’s on the West Coast, which is great. We’re looking forward to seeing more teams from this market get even more excited about the NARCh and further developing our brand in this state.
Please also spread the word that we go through great lengths to bring you all of this stuff on our website. Pictures, blogs, scores, NHL All-Stars, etc. We have a very loyal following but I’m sure that a lot of people that play in NARCh Regionals don’t even know that it’s something we do. I’ll chalk it up for market research, but the first person that comes up to me at this event and tells me that they read this blog, I’ll give you a free hat or t-shirt!
I’m bouncing back and forth today from the back room to the rinks. The internet connection and my computer are in the back room and I’m also working on shaping up the events for next weekend, St. Louis and Atlanta. The sooner teams sign up, the better job we can do of organizing! It’s very frustrating to be working on Tuesday and have a team bugging me about the schedule that just signed up and hasn’t even paid! To quote from a line in a great movie, “Help me help you!”
Irvine 2 weeks ago had 90 teams and the schedule was out the Sunday before! I love being able to do that, but it’s not up to me. I’m only as good as the hockey community that plays in our events.
That’s it for now I’m leaving the cave to watch some more action on the rinks. Look for another update/recap tomorrow.
