The Big Day
|  3 overtimes so far in playoffs!
Today is a big day here at Skate Safe as 8 champions will be crowned. It’s been super cold here, at least to me, but today the sun is out and it’s beautiful outside. Inside the rink the energy and intensity has been turned up a notch.
In squirts the Cougars defeated the East Coast Impact, so they’ll face the Tour Roadrunners 92 Black a little later today.
We had to have a shootout in peewee platinum to determine seeds. Black Ice won the shootout against the Junior Gladiators and the Black Ice went on to defeat to the Inline Cougars in a great game, 3-2. The other peewee platinum semi took overtime to decide, as the lower seeded Tour Roadrunners 95/96 defeated the Gladiators in a real defensive battle, 2-1.
In the Peewee Gold Semis the VM Rockets advanced to the final by defeating the Roadrunners and the East Coast Impact got past the Junior 495ers to advance.
In Bantam Gold it took overtime for the Cougars to get past the East Coast Impact, and the VM Rockets upset the higher seeded Team Sickness, so they’ll face each other for the title. Bantam Platinum also needed overtime to determine the winner between the Excitement and Black Ice Blue. The Excitement pulled it out, preventing the all Black Ice final, as the Black Ice 93’s defeated the Roadrunners 93’s in the other semi.
The men’s playoffs have also started and the cubs are in the house, which of course are a crowd favorite. The sport is such a blast when the score doesn’t really matter and the success of the outcome is based on smiles.
The building is full with so many divisions in play today. Some of the pro guys that are in the semis are here to see the outcome of the game coming up between the Revision Buffalo Wings and Savage Wolves.
Todd Melton has been around all weekend. Great to catch up with him and see him back in the sport. He wanted to post a picture to prove to his girlfriend he’s here, so here’s your alibi shot Todd!
It’s a very busy day here and I’d rather watch games then type, so I’m out for now.
