Pro Division packs the house

The atmosphere tonight was incredible inside the Sportsplex. Rink 1 saw 7 consecutive NARCh Pro games, and hundreds of people crowding the glass for hours enjoying the World's Greatest Roller Hockey players showing what they could do on the rink.

The afternoon started off with the Tour Mudcats coming out strong against an up and coming Mission AKS team. Both teams had short benches, and the Empire had youth on their side, but the experience of the Mudcats prevailed as they easily sailed away with 2 points.

Mission Syndicate SE's roster looks intimidating, and they came out looking good against the relative newbies in USA Clinics. The underdogs kept hanging in the game though, and ended up squeaking through with a point as a mini-upset happened early.

The building was standing room only as the 3rd game began. The Pama Cyclones have been a great team for a long time, and carry quite a following, but a majority of the fans were there to watch the hometown boys on Prestige. An up and down game ended with Pama scoring late to break a 3-3 tie, and disappointing the home crowd.

The other new team features a lot of familiar faces. So many of the Ducks have grown up playing NARCh, and showed how much they have missed being here, as they brought their A game against the Mudcats. These guys are good! The Mudcats short bench ended up being a burden to them, their second game in 3 hours beat them up a bit as the second period ticked away. Watch out for the Ducks.

Mission AKS Empire had their chance to bounce back against USA Clinics, and they took advantage of the opportunity, dominating the game, and moving their record to 1-1.

The most anticipated game of the evening ended up being the most undiciplined by both teams. Mission Syndicate faced off against Pama... the intensity showed from the opening faceoff. This one was interesting. At times, both teams played well, and at times, players started coasting a bit, leading to penalties. Both coaches reminded their players that hard work results in goals or power plays. There were a lot of power plays, and 5 of the 6 goals scored in the game came with the man advantage. Both teams were thankful to walk away with a point in that one.

The final NARCh Pro game of day 1 brought the local boys back out against the Ducks. Prestige knew they had a lot of work ahead of them, and put forth a good effort, but a dominant Ducks team ended up victorious.

Tonight is almost in the books here in San Jose. Time to go back out for the last few games. See you tomorrow!
