770 miles of roller hockey excitement!
| This year’s NARCh Finals should be the largest ever!
Length of California – 770 miles. By talking on the phone to a lot of people that have never been to California that are excited about coming out for the 2008 NARCh Finals, I get the sense they have no clue that the state is this large. With the size comes and enormous amount of options to wrap into their vacation while at the event.
West Coasters, and California’s in particular, have been patiently waiting years for the NARCh Finals to invade their home state. Silver Creek Sportsplex has made a small dream come true for a lot of us, NARCh Finals in California.
We knew that we would get a lot of in-state teams to participate, but I honestly didn’t think it would be this crazy.
The San Jose Regional Qualifier a few weeks back was sold-out and was honestly one of most fun events I can remember running. People were nice, grateful, and anxiously awaiting the big event this summer.
Irvine is next weekend and there are 90 more teams that will be qualifying for the Finals. Winternationals at 949 was a great event, and next weekend will have that same buzz that took over the rink in January, if not more. Derek Armstrong from the Kings will be out on Saturday signing autographs, and sponsors will be out in full force. Teams late to enter have been pointed to the West Covina Event the end of May, and all early indications point to that completing the trifecta of great NARCh Qualifiers in CA. By the way, the schedule for Irvine will be up this Sunday Night.
It’s very likely that we will have over 200 teams from California alone competing in the NARCh Finals. In addition, surrounding states have felt the surface waves of excitement. The Oregon Qualifier is in a few weeks and it’s also full! Teams from Idaho, British Columbia, and Nor Cal are making the trip to Oregon to make that tournament the best we’ve ever had in the state. We still have room for one or two adult teams, but that’s it!
Last year there were 406 teams that competed in the NARCh Finals. First time EVER that there has been over 400 teams for a hockey tournament. This year that record can be easily broken and it’s the first time I have ever worried about turning teams away for the NARCh Finals! If you know for sure that you are attending, please get your registration in once you’ve qualified and have been seeded.
If you have any questions about the NARCh Finals or California in general, please give me a call in the office and I will be happy to answer your questions personally. Being a California Native, I take it even more personal this year that everyone that comes to NARCh has a great time!
See you at a qualifier soon, or the NARCh Finals this summer!
