NARCh Winternationals Ready to Rip! NARCh Silver Will Shine in ’03!
2003 Official NARCh Sponsors Announced Soon!
The staff of the North American Roller Hockey Championships (NARCh) would like to express our excitement about the upcoming competitive roller hockey season.

“NARCh is going to rock in ‘03!” according to Jeff Mason – Director of Marketing for NARCh. “It’s hard to believe that we’re heading into our 10th season. Our goal is to make it the best NARCh season ever.”

Yes indeed, next year, 2003, is the TENTH Anniversary of what has become the largest and most competitive hockey tournament on the planet. The NARCh Finals have exploded over the last ten years and grown from a 38 team tournament to a 300 team tournament. The Finals were held in St. Louis in ’94 and ’95 / Chicago in ’96 / Vancouver in ’97 / Atlanta in ’98 and ’99 / Toronto in ’00 / Florida in ’01 / Minnesota in ’02. “03? {hold your horses, announcement soon!}” In all, NARCh ’03 will feature almost 30 tournaments and nearly 10,000 of the best roller hockey players in the world.

NARCh WINTERNATIONALS January 16-22 in Las Vegas

The 6th Annual NARCh WinterNationals are just around the corner. “The WinterNationals are a great way to kick off the competitive season”, commented NARCh Hockey Director Daryn Goodwin. The event will be held at the recently renovated Crystal Palace and features competitive play in all divisions, including NARChPRO. A record 143 teams and counting! Of particular excitement is the fact that the Adult Gold division will feature 12 teams, and the youth divisions are nearly full, with over 20 teams in the Squirt Division alone! The college division will also be loaded with talent. Finally, the final NARCh Pro teams will be announced soon.

NARCh SILVER to debut in NARCh ‘03

"There are many things to be excited about, one of which is our new Silver Division. The reason that we are adding this division is very simple. Many teams play in NARCh Gold year after year and haven’t won a game. These players are important to the sport of roller hockey and we owe it to them to create a competitive environment at the best event: The NARCh Finals. There are also teams that have not competed at our Finals because they feel they can’t compete. Now they can,” continued Goodwin.

“The hardest part will be keeping Gold teams out of Silver. If you can compete at Gold, you can’t play Silver, it’s that simple. It will begin as a small controlled division to make sure that we can monitor it and guarantee integrity. There will also be strict rules and guidelines to help enforce this. Gold has served as a stepping stone for Platinum and Silver will only help more. Every player should be striving to play in the Platinum Division, it’s the best of the best.”

Joe Cook of Mission also has something to say on the subject of NARCh Silver. “I think the Silver Division is a great step in the right direction for the sport. The teams that wouldn’t normally feel that they are competitive enough for NARCh will travel to the event with the opportunity to compete as well as experience the atmosphere of the best tournament in the world.”
