Day Eight
First let me congratulate Sean Gawyrs.

Word has it that Sean has just been selected to play on the National development Team, aka: Team USA for the 18under age bracket and we at Sealweenies and his friends and fellow teammates at Tour USA 87 are very proud of him.

Cubs:

Win or lose, just to see the little guys and gals out there is enough for me. I won’t post the scores since the players themselves could care less.

But we do keep score.

Blades 97 posted a win today, over the Bordercats 97. Mission California Cubs and TMD skate to a tie. Bordercats 97 post a win over the Stallions. Stallions then come back and beat Las Vegas Rebels. Blades 97 post another win over Cincinnati. Las Vegas over California Cubs.

Atom Platinum:

The Tour Smoke and the Lightening 95 have jumped out fast, and I think they appear very strong in the early going. OC Blades also looking very strong this first day of play.

More tomorrow.

Squirt Gold:

Mission Empire Snipers won and AMB Silver Lost. It would be one of the two Championships for the Snipers today.

Game details to follow.

Squirt Platinum:

Another division just getting started and again, the early going is hard to predict because you never know how the next day will go.

AMB Blue, Triumph, Velocity, OC Blades and Sudden Death all appear very strong in the early going.

Bantam Platinum:

Tour USA 87 takes the top seed. OCB is second, and they can’t seem to score much but more than ever, TNT in net is making them a contender. Cobras are strong, but to be strong enough to win, the top two would have to have off days. AKS 88 sneaks on in as the 4th seed, but I see the top three as ahead of the pack.

Sleeper: Team Credit Card #2: The Hosers. If they click and stop playing cool and start playing as a team…they could surprise everyone.

But the final numbers and seeding for play offs is:

#8 Cincy Shock v. #9 Tour Coyotes for the Bantam Playoff
Shock should win, but by a goal. If Coyotes win, it will be no surprise.

#1 Tour USA 87 will play winner of #8 v. #9
Too much firepower and Shock or Coyotes won’t be able to stop them.

#2 Nike OC Blades v. #7 AMB Blue
AMB may challenge early but a rested TNT rarely falters. AMB must play twice their current level to win. OCB by 3 goals.

#3 Cobras v. #6 Hosers
If any of the top three will get knocked off, it’s the Cobras. It will come down to a battle between Jon Glant of the Hosers and Mike Urbano of the Cobras and if the more physical Hosers are allowed to play against the smaller Cobras.

#4 AKS Empire 88 v. # 5 TMD 88 Platinum
This is a battle between the two best fully 88 teams in North America. It is also a battle between Detroit and California. Although neither team will be string enough to win it unless lady luck boosts them, this will be a great game and a precursor for next year’s final four.

When looking at the seeding, I don’t see any upsets here, except the possible Hosers over the Cobras. Expect Tour USA 87 to play AKS Empire 88 in the semis, and Nike OC Blades to play the Cobras in the semi final game. If the Hosers upset, both Tour USA 87 and OCB still should get to the finals.

If Tour USA 87 moves on to the finals against Nike OC Blades, it will be a toss up.

The division will come down to whether the OC Blade’s Goalie, Tartaglione, can handle the barrage of the eight snipes on USA 87 who, through preliminaries posted a plus 26 nearly twice over the number 2 seed, Blades, who posted a 14. Both Cobras and AKS came in with a plus 11.

Junior Platinum:

Mission Snipers faced the Tour Bordercats and won.

Game details to follow.

Congrats to Tim’s Snipers on their Championship.
